Community Manager Appreciation Day is here due to Jeremiah Owyang, who declared the fourth Monday in January a day to celebrate community managers around the world. Thanks Jeremiah!
Additionally, hats off to those of us who are proud to call ourselves community weavers and whom are bringing visibility to the role, its core competencies and relevance.
Executive Networks interviewed Richard Koch on his book Super Connect which is another way to describe community managers. In this discussion we explore this notion of what is a super connector and the importance of individuals moving outside their comfort zone to get connected with people outside their immediate networks.
The next two weeks in fact, I’m honored to be leading a workshop for professionals that are new to the field of social engagement. We are discussing what it takes to be an expert community connection director and super connector. Yes, it’s Community Manager Training 101, but we make sure to have fun with role play in a safe environment, which allows individuals to stretch and grow. Thanks again to all those mentors and individuals that have granted trust and come on this journey with me. I’m really looking forward to our next Community Manager Training in the Baja, Mexico!
